Hotpoint Appliance Repair
The story of Hotpoint Electric Heating Company is a captivating and inspiring one. Did you know that Hotpoint pioneered creating a successful commercial product? Earl H. Richardson introduced the Hotpoint iron through the Pacific Electric Heating Company, which later became a renowned laundry iron. Surprisingly, George A. Hughes and The Hughes Company introduced the electric stove in 1910. In 1912, the Pacific Electric Heating Company was rebranded as the Hotpoint Electric Heating Company.
By this time, Hotpoint had already become a household name. 1914, the Hotpoint trademark was officially registered with the US license office. In 1918, Hughes Electric Heating Company joined forces with Edison Electric Appliance Company. Hotpoint continued to innovate, introducing electric stoves in two colors, brown and black, which were produced until 1922. In 1920, a partnership was forged between Hotpoint Electric Heating Company in the UK and General Electric in the USA to establish an agency to sell home appliances under GE’s brands in the UK, later renamed HEAC.

Hotpoint’s design service empowered customers to plan their kitchens, and in 1935, Raymond C. Sandin joined Hotpoint to work in the design department. In 1944, the magazine “Kitchen of the Future” was advertised. Raymond C. Sandin’s design team grew from 13 to 14 members in 1965, and he continued to lead the department until his passing. In 1989, General Domestic Appliances, a division of General Electric Company, acquired Hotpoint. By 2001, Merloni had purchased almost 50 percent of Marconi plc. In 2005, Indesit became a famous European brand after the marketing and sale of Hotpoint by Merloni.
